How does the Goris Gold PBR look

The Goris Gold sparkles with a nice matching background:

After pruning the gold yellow shoots appear:

A strong plant, but also beautiful subtle flowers
and golden yellow shoots:

In May, the Goris Gold flowers with white,
upright flower clusters,
followed by black berries in autumn

Frost does not trouble
the Goris Gold at all

Also after pruning in summer, the Goris Gold PBR
will produce golden yellow shoots again:

There is also the Goris Gold PBR on stem:

Description of the Goris Gold PBR :

The evergreen laurel Prunus laurocerasus Goris Gold PBR is a new variety.

In contrast to other laurels, the prunus Goris Gold PBR has a very striking yellow-lit leaf.

In the sun, the plants seem to shimmer in the light.

The more sunlight this laurel gets, the more beautiful the effect is.

After the plant has produced the yellow elongated leafs, the leafs will gradually turn to green, but new shoots will always be golden yellow.

Characteristics of the Goris Gold PBR :

  • Dark green, leathery leaves, bright yellow when they emerge.
  • Very dense and compact growth, a slender species.
  • Evergreen.
  • Very strong plant and very good frost resistant.
  • Location: sun to shade (but preferably full sun).
  • Soil type: laurel species are generally not very critical, but the Goris Gold does like humus-like moist soil.
  • Pruning: by pruning twice a year in March and July, not only the desired height and width is kept, but also ensures the new golden yellow leaves.
  • 5 plants per 2 meters are recommended for hedges.

The Goris Gold PBR for garden & terrace:

The size of the garden does not play a big role,
because the hardy prunus is easy to prune,
and therefore can be adjusted to any desired size.

Ideal for small and large hedges:

The origin of the Goris Gold PBR

the original
  ‘mother plant’

The variant

The variation
has been discovered
by me

From one twig with a natural variation,
in this case a golden-yellow leaf color,
I took a cutting.
That one cutting has been grown into a large plant.
From that plant again, cuttings have been made; and so on, and so on.

Because when making a cutting,
the properties of the original cutting are passed on,
all the following cuttings of the new plants
have also again the original properties.

Propagating and growing of the prunus

On the left is the unrooted cutting.
The rooting of the cuttings
happens in a tray.
The cutting on the right had,
in the tray,
the time to develop roots.
It then is a rooted cutting.

Once properly rooted, the cuttings are planted in open ground.

After a development of years,
since the emergence of this species,
the plants can be further cultivated,
including on stem:

Breeders’ rights

To protect the by me breeded prunus variety,
I have received the ‘Plant breeder’s rights’,
with me, Kees Goris, as license holder.

The official name of the plant is:
Prunus laurocerasus Goris Gold (‘Goris11’ PBR) EU 38079

This is the label which is attached to the plants when they are sold:
